I used to write books like this our expensive energy management systems before I retired. One thing a book like this absoluely needs is to flow correctly. I was really enjoying working through the tutorials and then I hit a snag. All of a sudden, it looked like some steps were missing or incorrect. I couldn’t get from step 3 to step 4 so I was stuck with that lesson.

It happened again several more times. I still love the book and will pick it up again soon, but I started working with a video tutorial on PSE and am really enjoying it. What I would not recommend any more. When I finally received it, it was very informative as all of the previous manuals for Photoshop Elements have been. So if you are using Photoshop 12 I would highly recommend it.

What I would not recommend any more, as I have been doing for a number of years with the previous Photoshop Elements, is recommend the program itself. Many of the most useful features have been deleted from the program. Things that normally had been very intuitive and took only one or two steps to use them, now are replaced by others that are no longer intuitive, and in some cases takes four or five steps to do the same thing, and not doing them very well afterward.

One person found this helpful. This is my favorite book, it takes you step by step and explains clearly. This book is a MUST have. While I consider myself to be an advanced photographer I would rather be out in the field taking pictures than behind a computer editing and I have found this program easier to use than other software.

This books helped to some degree but I also purchased other books to help. I have taken 2 Adobe Photoshop Classes, and was overwhelmed by all the information and the speed it was delivered. This book has pictures, an Index, and the Table of Contents tells clearly where to look. I really need help organizing my pictures and the class didn’t address this, but the book has a whole chapter on it. What a relief. Photoshop Elements 12 is a great tool, but there is so much to explore in it, and the book answers my questions.

Excellent book for people who want to teach themselves. Adobe Photoshop is complicated, but very powerful and takes considerable time to learn, but well worth it, because of the possible features. We purchase manuals to assist us with use of a software program MORE proficiently. This brand of product seems to work with Adobe Photoshop products.

The description for this item should state that the book and the enclosed CD-ROM are aimed at users with the Windows-based version of Photoshop Elements 6. Although if you can read the fine print in the lower left corner of the cover you will be able to see that information.

Macintosh users should be advised that there are some significant differences between the Windows and Macintosh versions and those are not dealt with in this book.

Although I am still studying this book I can say that so far I have found it to be very well structured and easy to understand, there is a link to download lots of photos etc. I had planned to go on a course but these are expensive and hard to find in convenient locations, I doubt very much I will need to go on a course when I have finished studying the book and doing the exercises unless I want to develop very advanced skills.

The Photoshop Elements Software bought separately has a cataloguing system for your photographs, although I have used an earlier version of Photoshop elements I never really understood the cataloguing system until I bought this book, as a result I broke of from studying it to completely rebuild my catalogue which took a few weeks as I have many thousands of photographs taken over the last 6 years or so since I went digital but was really worth it as I can now find pictures by many different search criterion very quickly and keep it updated now as I add more photographs.

When I have finished this book I will buy the equivalent book for Premier Elements as I have also started doing some video. A comprehensive guide to using a now complex and sometimes counter-intuitive piece of software. The book reflects the nature of the software, which has grown from a simple intuitive and user-friendly tool into something requiring significant training and practice.

I had hoped that the book would solve two problems I was experiencing with the new version, namely why I couldnt drop a photo onto the desktop icon as before, and why I couldnt simply arrange 3 or 4 photos on a single canvas.

The book doesnt address these problems. It seems these simple functions no longer exist. Nevertheless, a useful book. Some typos, but the book lives up to its name. It is a classroom in a book, and, provided the reader is prepared to invest time in doing the exercises, is worth the investment.

The best way to learn Photoshop is in the classroom with a qualified tutor. I purchased 'Adobe classroom in a book’ to be perfectly honest, it is not any easier than any other book. When you become stuck with this book [as you will] it will take hours to find a solution, My sincere advise on Adobe Photoshop is John A Sutton. Step by step and clear examples. I was worried this might be too complicated however it really does guide you through each step.

You can jump to different parts without effecting your progress and this I have done. If you think you know the basics then this will show that there are even more basics to know and use.

There are also the more difficult tasks which you would just middle through without this book to guide you. I really do recommend this even for just the basic knowledge tasks. I find the Classroom in a Book series really helpful if you are new to using Adobe Photoshop Elements or want to improve your existing skills. It does this by taking you through a series of lessons which you can complete at your own speed and in your own time or if you wish you can just choose which chapters and lessons interest you the most and practice those.

It is also a useful reference book for those elements which you only use now and again and need a refresher how to use. Pages with related products.
